This Day in Film History:
October 4
1895:
Actor Buster Keaton, perhaps best known for his slapstick comedy, is born Joseph Frank Keaton VI in Pequa, Kansas.
1923:
Charlton Heston is born in Illinois.
1933:
Eddie Cantor is chosen the second president of the Screen Actors Guild. The election takes place at 2015 DeMille Drive, the house of first SAG President Ralph Morgan's youngest brother, actor Frank Morgan of Wizard of Oz fame. Again, Eddie was chosen president by a miniscule group of members, rather than a
regular election. as the Guild was still so small!
