1931:
Nosferatu director F.W. Murnau dies in a car accident in Santa Barbara, California.
1971:
THX-1138 is released. This was George Lucas' first film, and served as the basis for much of his later work, including the Star Wars saga. Each of Lucas' future works reportedly include a reference to this film, which he adapted from a short that he made while at USC film school.
1994:
Paramount merges with Viacom.
