Jack Conrad sits in a South American jail awaiting his execution when a wealthy television producer "purchases" him and takes him to a deserted island. There he is pitted against nine other condemned prisoners; the sole survivor obtains his freedom.
The Condemned stars Stone Cold Steve Austin of World Wrestling Entertainment fame. Austin's 'Stone Cold' persona, which turned the whole good guy/bad guy dynamic upside down in the wrestling world ten years ago, is the draw as his natural badass character is tailor made for an action movie.
Derivative of countless movies, most notably The Running Man starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Surviving the Game with Ice-T and to The Most Dangerous Game, which was done in 1932 with the original King Kong actress Fay Wray, The Condemned sounds like nothing new. We wonder why this movie and why this star now?
