Position Staff In Brief
62/169 Max Braden I like Luc Besson a lot, and it's great to see Guy Pearce in a more physical, snarky role, but man this movie is stuck in the 80s.

Imagine Taken in space. Luc Besson did and that’s how Lockout came to be. This was presumably an easy concept for him since he also wrote Taken. The vaunted French auteur has developed a reputation for creating cheap movies he can sell to Hollywood distributors and thereby provide frugal yet profitable content. Lockout is his latest action flick and this time, he’s brought Guy Pearce along for the ride.

Pearce portrays Snow, an innocent man wrongly imprisoned for the murder of an undercover police officer. Framed for the crime, Snow has sought avenues through which he can prove his innocence. Instead, a formal offer is given to pardon his crimes. This deal is brokered by the President, and the offer is that Snow must save the kidnapped daughter of the President (played by Maggie Grace, who was also the kidnapping victim in Taken). She is being held on a prison facility in space.

Coincidentally, Snow was framed by someone seeking to cover up details about this very location, MS One. So, he can save the girl, earn a pardon and restore his reputation in one heroic outer space mission. Whether you are interested in this movie or not comes down to whether the concept of Taken in Space appeals to you. (David Mumpower/BOP)
