Clint Eastwood stars in Wolfgang Petersen's In the Line of Fire for Castle Rock Pictures. The film opens on 1,903 screens.

1999:

American Pie opens. The Universal offering opened modestly ($18.71 million in its opening weekend), but enjoyed a long run, grossing over $100 million.
