Ross Martin suffers a heart attack during a tennis game and later dies in Ramona, California. Irony takes credit for the fact that Ross often teased friends by pretending to have a heart attack when playing tennis.

1996:

Independence Day opens on 2,882 screens. In its opening weekend, the film takes in $50.77 million, a record for the month of July at that time.
