Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey debuts.
1974:
A streaker briefly interrupts the Academy Awards, dashing behind host David Niven while he is speaking. Niven, nervous about presenting, dashes off the brilliant ad-lib: "Isn't it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings."
