Vivian Leigh, Scarlett O'Hara herself, is born Vivian Mary Hartley in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. Along with winning an Oscar for that role, Leigh wins a second for her turn in A Streetcar Named Desire.
1937:
Walt Disney's cartoon The Old Mill is released. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, it is the first cartoon to be produced with the 'multiplane' camera setup (the camera is suspended high overhead multiple glass panes, each containing independently-animated or painted elements, providing an increased sense of depth and movement).
1955:
Marty McFly arrives from the future.
