Giant of French filmmaking Henri-Georges Clouzot is born in Niort, Deux-Sèvres, Poitou-Charentes, France.
1948:
MGM's cartoon The Cat That Hated People, directed by Tex Avery, is released.
1954:
MGM's cartoon Pet Peeve, starring Tom & Jerry and directed by Hanna & Barbera, is released. It is the first MGM cartoon produced in Cinemascope.
1975:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest opens. It eventually sweeps the Oscars for picture, director, actor, actress and screenwriting. It Happened One Night, released in 1935, had been the only other film to hold the distinction. The Silence of the Lambs duplicates the feat in 1992.
