UPA (United Productions of America) releases Gerald McBoing Boing. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. Considered to be the cartoon that caused all studios to change from the established Disney and Warner's styles to the lean, minimalistic UPA style.
1961:
Walt Disney's animated feature film 101 Dalmatians is released.
