Camden, New Jersey patrons are charged 25 cents per car plus 25 cents per person to see Wife Beware at the opening of the first drive-in movie. Richard Hollingshead Jr. received the patent for the drive-in theatre on May 16th of that year.
1944:
James Doohan, Star Trek's Scotty, loses a finger in the Invasion of Normandy.
1951:
MGM's cartoon Symphony in Slang, directed by Tex Avery, is released.
1960:
Ronald Reagan resigns as Screen Actors Guild president.

Warner's cartoon War and Pieces, starring the Road Runner, is released. This is the last cartoon directed by Chuck Jones for the original Warner cartoon unit.
