The William Wyler film Mrs. Miniver premeiers in New York. The film later went on to receive a record five acting Oscar nominations (Walter Pidgeon, Henry Travers, Dame May Whitty and Teresa Wright for supporting roles, Greer Garson for lead actress). Garson and Wright won Oscars.
