Jack Palance, an Academy Award-winning actor for his supporting role in City Slickers, is born Vladimir Palanuik in Lattimer Mines, Pennsylvania.

1933:

Hedy Lamarr (appearing as Hedy Kiesler) stars completely nude and simulates orgasm in the Czechoslovakian film Extase. The Vatican raises vehement objections. US Customs agents seize the film, marking the first time customs laws were used to prevent a film from entering the United States.
