Based on a true story, The Last Shot is an ensemble comedy that will depict the story of a struggling filmmaker (Matthedw Broderick) who suddenly finds all his dreams coming true. It seems a benefactor (Alec Baldwin) has agreed to finance his production, but with one caveat. The movie must be filmed in Providence, Rhode Island.

Our intrepid hero figures, "Hey, everybody's got quirks," and rather than turn his nose up at free money, sets out to create his film. As his work progresses, though, he learns that his producer is actually an FBI agent who is just using the filming to collect evidence for a sting operation to make union manipulation accusations against the mafia. Hijinks almost surely ensue.

In the real-life version of the story, the ending wasn't particularly exciting. The movie that was being filmed never wound up being made, and the FBI agent never caught his mobsters. You can be sure that director/screenwriter Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can, Rush Hour 2) will adapt to the situation, making for a potentially very entertaining comedy. And it'll be kind of fun to see Baldwin in the non-mafia role for a change, too. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
