Remember the joy of your first kiss? How awkward and confusing it was, but how sure you were that you wanted to do it a whole lot more? Even better, do you remember that first kiss you had with the person you loved the most? The one you were most passionate about?

"Lucky you," says Lucy Whitmore.

You see, Ms. Whitmore, Drew Barrymore's character in the new movie that re-unites her with The Wedding Singer co-star Adam Sandler, has a condition. It's not unlike the condition Sammy Jankis had in Memento for you see, Lucy has no short term memory. Whenever something happens to her, the memories quickly flit and fly out of her head, leaving her completely unable to recall the details. This poses a problem for one Henry Roth (Sandler), the man who is hopelessly smitten by her.

Mr. Roth, a veterinarian at an aquarium, faces a difficult proposition because of Whitmore's Jankis Syndrome. In order to get the girl of his dreams to remain in his life, he is forced to constantly get her to fall in love with him all over again, thereby leading to...wait for it...fifty first dates.

The premise of the film is sublime in its simplicity, as it affords a brilliant comedic actor in Sandler to go overboard in pursuit of a co-star in Barrymore, with whom he has already proven to have incredible chemistry in a prior film. Plus, from Drew's perspective, the whole concept must be appealing for a woman coming off of a marriage to Tom Green. (David Mumpower/BOP)
