Jimmy Neutron can be best visualized as Inspector Gadget as a pre-teen. He’s a 10-year-old boy who invents gadgets that would make Batman blush as he uses them to stop crime and battle evil. The enemy this round takes on the form of the alien species known as the Yokians. These meanies even go so far as to kidnap our hero’s parents (think Ransom with Jimmy as a very, very young Mel Gibson). With the help of a plucky dog (I’m swooning already), his best friend and a rival girl who makes him feel funny like when he climbs the rope in gym class, Jimmy sets out to save Mommy and Daddy and the rest of the universe along with them.

Jimmy Neutron is a CGI film that signals the debut of DNA Productions. Hoping to work its way into the realm of Pixar and DreamWorks, this upstart group has done a phenomenal job of securing tie-ins to this film that will go a long way in ensuring heavy marketing as release approaches. In fact, Jimmy Neutron will be seen in his own Nickelodeon show a few months after the film comes out. As we know from Final Fantasy and Titan AE, it can brutal trying to break into the CGI movie marketplace, but if this film can continue on the frantic pace of its teaser, it has the potential to strike a huge chord with children.
