A fringe Disney project, Max Keeble's Big Move has the unfortunate task of trying to gather some box office in what is traditionally a very weak market for kids films. At this time of the year, with school just starting up and kids not having the time nor inclination to head to movie theatres, a release of a kid's movie is a big risk at best. The film's other challenge is that it has no product recognition and does not have any kind of fan base.

The relative success of successful live-action kids' movies to animated movies says it all. This comparison goes even beyond time of release. There is a secret formula for having successful kids' movies. A movie has a better chance of doing well if it is animated, is based on a familiar product and if it is from Disney. Very few movies can completely stray away from all these factors and still be successful, Spy Kids being the most obvious exception. Of course, upon further research, we see that other films, such as Snow Day, have fallen outside this formula and found moderate success, but these movies have also happened to fall at the end of winter, which is a detriment to our topic. Max Keeble, however, shares very little with Spy Kids and it doesn't seem that it'll leave a mark on the box office. (Walid Habboub/BOP)
