Hard-working Billy Bob Thornton has signed up for approximately his 73rd project of the new millennium. Mr. Sling Blade will follow up the Harold Ramis project, Ice Harvest, with Fade Out. Joining him is recent Resident Evil vixen Milla Jovovich. The two of them portray a married couple in the movie.
Mirroring the ideas espoused by Stephen King and Johnny Depp in Secret Window, Fade Out is a mystery thriller in the insane writer genre. Billy Bob's character is a New England screenwriter with a history of mental illness living with his wife in a largely unpopulated coastal area. Their lives take a turn for the horrific when the author begins to suspect his wife of infidelity. Soon, she turns up missing, and to deal with his pain he begins to write a script where he fleshes out the ideas in his head about what might have happened to her. Before long, he begins to lose the ability to distinguish reality from the fiction he is creating. Is there a mystical entity at work here or has the man simply lost his mind? (David Mumpower/BOP)
