Best described as Bridget Jones Does Italy, this movie is based on the popular book of the same name. As with Bridget Jones, if it proves successful, the sequel is already written and ready to go. BOP smells a franchise!

Under the Tuscan Sun tells the story of American author Frances Mayes (played by 2002 Academy Awards nominee for Best Actress Diane Lane), a recently divorced Silicon Valley denizen who finds herself frustrated with her life and fighting a crippling bout with depression. In order to pull herself out of this funk, she suddenly gets the idea (one would assume while watching an episode of Seinfeld) that it would be fun to own villa in Tuscany.

The movie will detail Ms. Mayes' experiences as she rebuilds her home and her life. Obviously, a part of that will involve a tall, dark and handsome stranger because what Italian vacation would be complete without one of these? In this case, he is played by Italian model Raoul Bova, whom you probably didn't catch in a straight-to-video Sly Stallone flick called Avenging Angelo but whom you might have lusted after in some Max Factor commercials a couple of years ago. In short, he's exactly the sort of hottie most women's Italian vacation fantasies involve.

Helming this project is Audrey Wells, who has only directed one previous production, Guinevere. A positive to her romantic movie pedigree would be that she also was the writer and executive producer of the marvelous The Truth About Cats and Dogs. This is a woman who clearly knows quality swoon and we have chosen to forgive her for the George of the Jungle script. In her skilled hands, we expect this love story to be a very big hit for Touchstone. (David Mumpower/BOP)
