Transcript of "meeting" inside executive washroom at Disney HQ:

JOE: "Hey, Bob. How you been?"

BOB: "Not bad, Joe. My family and I went to the theme park over the weekend. My kids love some of those wacky rides. They loved the Country Bear Jamboree, the Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted House, and Peter Pan's Flight."

[Light bulb appears above Joe's head]

JOE: "A-HA! I've got a brilliant idea! Let's make movies out of those rides!"

BOB: "Excellent! Let's go tell Mr. Eisner."

And that's how they came up with the ideas for a series of new films coming out from Walt Disney Studios. Well, probably not exactly how they did it, but you get the idea. And now we have four films coming out in the near future: The Country Bears (July 26, 2002), Pirates of the Caribbean (summer 2003), Haunted Mansion (Halloween 2003), and this film, Peter Pan (Christmas 2003).

Disney has teamed up with Sony's Columbia Pictures to make this live-action version of the beloved children's classic. If there are any of you out there who don't know the story, here's a brief rundown.

Peter Pan is a boy who lives in Neverland and never ages. He goes to London and gives three kids (Wendy, John and Michael Darling) the power to fly by using magic fairy dust. They all go off to Neverland where they battle the evil Captain Hook and his pirates.

Columbia has budgeted the movie at $100 million and is saying the movie should be more like the classic book and animated movie from Disney, rather than the 1991 movie Hook. It's early in the production process and more details will be coming out in the coming months. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
