Farva! Farva! Farva!

If you have been fortunate enough to watch Super Troopers, you know exactly why we mean it when we say that we can't wait to see the return of Broken Lizard. This comedy troupe led by Jay Chandrasekhar reduced audiences to fits of hysterical giggling in 2002 with the release of their first movie. Its brutally funny portrayal of dirty cops trying to survive government budget cuts made it one of the biggest buzz films of the year. Now the troupe is back with an idea that had already been greenlighted before Super Troopers became Fox Searchlight's fourth-biggest movie to date.

The premise combines the joy of Porky's or, for a more obscure reference, Club Paradise (Twiggy! Twiggy!) along with the delights of an Agatha Christie movie...say Murder on the Orient Express or, again using a more obscure reference, Once Upon a Crime. More appropriately, it's the premise of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer with the key difference being that the humor is intentional rather than accidental.

The members of Broken Lizard are running a hotel for sexy singles (think Hedonism III) in Costa Rica when tragedy begins to befall many of the guests. That's right, a Jason Voorhees type is bringing the machete with him into the basement and personally checking out many of the residents before they can pay their bills. Ignoring the horrific nature of the crimes, the news is even worse for the staff because fewer customers means job cuts, so Broken Lizard is again driven to avoid the unemployment line. This time, they have to catch a serial killer in order to stay within the swinger lifestyle.

Can't wait. Can't wait. Can't wait. (David Mumpower/BOP)
