This film is a comedy that begins when Lucia’s (Cecilia Roth) husband mysteriously disappears. His departure makes a mess of her life and she finds out her life is not what it seems. She goes on a quest to find her missing husband and gets help from two new friends: Adrián (Kuno Becker), a charismatic 25-year-old and Félix (Carlos Alvarez-Novoa), a seasoned veteran. The three of them discover the value of friendship and passion while Lucía reinvents her life. She is rediscovering a world she had forgotten, which included her ability to smile and her freedom.
The film had its world premiere in Mexico in January 2003. For the U.S. theatrical release, Fox Searchlight Pictures originally thought of naming the film The Cannibal’s Daughter, but decided against that for the current title. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
