Survivor, Big Brother, Temptation Island. These are just a few examples of reality shows that have blossomed on television lately. You knew that it wouldn't be long before someone made a film spoof of this popular genre.
Director Betty Thomas (The Brady Bunch Movie, 28 Days, Dr. Dolittle) has decided to take on this project, which has been described as, "A documentary of a documentary of a TV show, and it has nothing to do with Survivor." She has enlisted the aid of screenwriter Peter Murrieta, who is making his feature-film debut. He has previous experience writing for the TV shows Common Law and Jesse. The TV show's host will be played by Joseph "Joey" Lawrence.
The movie was shot in late 2000 with a very low budget of $2 to $3 million. It has been picked up for distribution by Columbia Pictures and should hopefully get a theatrical release soon. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
