Director David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en) brings us this story about a woman named Meg (Jodie Foster) and her young daughter Sarah who try to survive a burglary by hiding in the "panic room" in their new house. This vault-like room is stockpiled with food, water, and a closed-circuit video system. Even with this refuge, will they be able to make it out alive?

The burglars apparently know about a huge stash of money in this house and they have every intention of finding it. The woman is able to watch their progress safely on the video system, but they can't stay there forever.

Originally, Nicole Kidman was slated to play Meg, but had to drop out due to a recurring knee injury. Jodie Foster resigned as the Cannes jury president so she could make this movie. Other cast members include singer Dwight Yoakam and Jared Leto as two of the burglars.

This film was originally scheduled for a June 2001 release, but has had several delays. Most recently Sony Pictures has moved this to a March 8, 2002 release date, taking the place of Black Hawk Down on their release schedule. There have also been stories that Fincher is doing some reshoots during the month of November.
