A huge factor in the viability of a film is its title. I think it’s pretty safe to say that The Adjustment Bureau is a horrible name for a movie. It’s forgettable, bland and just downright wrong. A title for a film is half the battle. The title has to catch the eye and flow easily. The Adjustment Buearu does the exact opposite. If the title is any indication to the quality of the film, I will tread lightly.

The Adjustment Buearu stars Matt Damon who plays a congressman whose political career is in jeopardy after meeting a ballerina played by Emily Blunt. He’s intrigued by her and finds himself pursuing her only to be kept apart by the forces that be. The rest of the storyline is about him trying to find out why he is being kept from her while still trying to salvage his career.

Jason Bourne..oops…I mean Matt Damon can be a big draw at the box office. The Bourne franchise is a huge success, averaging $174 million a picture, while his recent films The Informant! and Invictus have earned him critical acclaim and an Oscar Nomination. Damon has always known how to choose the right films and when to take lucrative risks. Damon has a bright future ahead of him because he caters to a large number of people. Action enthusiasts stand behind him but he hasn’t been pigeonholed in just leading man action roles. He can play funny extremely well and still churn out an impressive serious role. He’s what we like to call in the industry today…a real actor.

Emily Blunt came out of nowhere to me. Her role in The Devil wears Prada was wickedly funny and would have been scene stealing if it wasn’t for Meryl Streep eating up the whole screen with her awesomeness. Blunt reminds me of Rachel McAdams. They choose the right roles at the right time and are just waiting in the back of the line to pounce and take the world by storm. Blunt is relatable, charming and beautiful. The Adjustment Bureau should be the perfect fit for her.

The Adjustment Bureau will be the first feature film directed by screenwriter George Nolfi. Nolfi has previously worked with Matt Damon on The Bourne Ultimatum. (The most successful of the three Bourne films) Whether he can make the leap from writing films to directing them is yet to be seen but with the right cast and a well written story, The Adjustment Bureau has Oscar bait written all over it. But please..change the title. (Ronnie Harvey/BOP)
