Writer/director Finn Taylor puts an interesting spin on your typical romantic-comedy story. Robin Tunney, Jason Priestley, and Tim Blake Nelson star in this picture.

We follow Zoe Adler (Tunney), a love-starved animator in her 20s. She spends most of her time alone at home, listening to her favorite '70s and '80s pop favorites on the radio. She finally goes out on a date, and it turns disastrous when she runs down a policeman in a hijacked car. She's put under house arrest, with an electronic bracelet so she can't leave her home. The "bracelet officer" (Nelson) comes to check on her regularly and she ends up falling in love.

While listening to songs by '80s icons Human League, Soft Cell, and Hall and Oates, among others, she finds a new meaning for love and self-worth, and also becomes her own superhero when she realizes that she's being stalked.

The film was shown at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. Fine Line Features picked up the US distribution rights for $1-$2 million at the festival. Most reviews of this film have been positive. It seems that this half-romantic comedy/half-thriller sits well with audiences. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
