After the successes of films like Save the Last Dance, You Got Served and Step Up, low-budget dance movies have started to become a bit of a cottage industry. Stomp the Yard will attempt to follow in those footsteps and capitalize on a trend that so far, has been wildly successful.

Starring practically no one you've ever heard of, Stomp the Yard centers around a young man - an expert street dancer - who deals with his grief over the death of his brother by leaving home and attending Truth University in Georgia. He fully intends to get a great education, and he seems to be finding some romance with the girl of his dreams in the process. All of that gets sidelined, however, when he joins his fraternity as they attempt to win a step dancing competition.

Like Step Up before it, Stomp the Yard will hope to capitalize on a MySpace campaign and target a very specific demographic to draw audiences to seats on opening weekend. Quality is no determining factor - it really all depends on the whims of the youthful audience and their discretion in how they will spend their hard earned dollars. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
