Position Staff In Brief
73/76 Dan Krovich The acting and writing is below average, but it's the editing that's particularly bad.
83/159 David Mumpower Amazing true story comes across as overly preachy at times, but its heart is definitely in the right place.

Mincayani is a Waodani tribesman who lives in Ecuador's eastern rainforest. As he matures from young man to adult, he grows to learn what all Waodini come to understand - they live in a world that requires them to either spear others or be speared and die themselves. However, when Mincayani and his family kill five missionaries, they are soon sent down a new path that both eliminates violence from their lives and has them realizing that it is acceptable to care for members of an enemy tribe.

We learn the details of the story when Steve, the son of Nate Saint, one of the missionaries who was murdered, returns to the jungle where his father and friends were killed. He visits members of the Waodini and learns from Mincayani the details of the final moments of Nate's life. As they learn together about Nate's accomplishments both in life and death, they become close. Ultimately Steve's family and Mincayani's family come together and Mincayani serves as grandfather to all.

End of the Spear is receiving a wide release and is likely to be popular amongst church groups who popularized such stuff as Passion of the Christ and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It won't find that same sort of massive success, but it has a great chance to be a surprise factor when box office numbers come out after its weekend of release. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
