It looks like Billy's head got broader.

On the Big Board
Position Staff In Brief
138/214 Max Braden Billy Crudup once again shows how dynamic an actor he is, it's just too bad the movie doesn't support him.

What happens when BOP fave Billy Crudup (yes, we've forgiven him for the unseemly Mary Louise Parker thing) and BOP fave Mandy Moore (yes, we've forgiven her for American Dreamz) team up for romantic comedy? Given that the project in question, Dedication, sounds generic as hell, we will have to get back to you on that.

In the meantime, we can tell you what we know. Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle tough guy Justin Theroux is ready to show his sensitive side to North American audiences. The first-time director has picked this comedy wherein opposites attract as the right project to show that he's so much more than a six pack and a strong accent.

Dedication tells of a noted children's author (Crudup) who has difficulty relating to adult women. He treats them as little more than interchangeable sex dolls. Then, he is forced to work with a new illustrator for his next project. Of course it's a woman, of course she has the looks and charm of Mandy Moore, and of course sparks fly between the unlikely romantic foils. As I said, the lead actors sound great. The movie sounds....familiar.

Noted director and frequent Sopranos therapist Peter Bogfanovich (who won my heart with the criminally under-appreciated Thing Called Love) co-stars along with former Seinfeld's fictional NBC president, Bob Balaban. Dedication had its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, and BOP holds out hope that special acting talents more than make up for a generic movie premise. (David Mumpower/BOP)
