Not all that long ago, the under-rated and charming Roll Bounce was unleashed on theaters. That movie was centered around the roller skating exploits of a teenage boy and his friends as they grow up in 1970s Chicago. It didn't exactly make a huge splash, however, as its opening weekend was a not-bad $7.6 million, but its overall gross was only $17.3 million by the time it was all said and done. Apparently, Roll Bounce simply didn't cover that subject matter adequately enough, as we'll soon be seeing a second roller skating film with hip-hop and R&B at its center.

ATL, as its title might indicate, is set in Atlanta and is classified as a musical ensemble comedy. The action takes place at a hip-hop roller skating rink and features musician T.I. as Rashad, the leader of a roller skating team. Lauren London is New New, an employee at the rink who has designs on Rashad. The story is based on ideas from music producer Dallas Austin and TLC's T-Boz. Chris Robinson will make his directorial debut with the project. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
