January 18, 2002
Time of Favor has won numerous awards, including six at the 2000 Israeli Film Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, etc.).
This thriller is about religious nationalist settlers who conspire to blow up the Dome of the Rock mosque on the Temple Mount. The story follows Menachem, an army officer in the intense hesder yeshiva program, which combines yeshiva study with service in combat. Menachem gets involved in a love triangle which tests his loyalties.
This film is a study of the motivations behind a movement that is willing to take Israel to the brink to get themselves heard and is quite an intense look at part of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
