A View from the Top is the latest in a long line of recent Gwyneth Paltrow films. One of the hardest working actresses in the industry, this will be her eighth role since December of 2000. In this outing, she portrays a small town girl with a dream of being a big city flight attendant so that she can see parts of the world she has only been able to dream about previously.

Her most recognizable co-star in this flick is Austin Powers himself, Mike Myers, but the cast is much deeper than just him. Mark Ruffalo continues his ascent in Hollywood here as her new boyfriend and the perfectly cast Christina Applegate portrays her chief competitor in the dog eat dog world of flight attendant school. Stacey Dash (Clueless) and Kelly Preston (John Travolta or For Love of the Game...your pick) play her friends and co-workers with Candace Bergen playing basically the same role she just had in Miss Congeniality as a retired flight attendant who shows Paltrow the ropes. Marc Blucas also has a typecast part as the small town boyfriend she may or not outgrow for Ruffalo.

Miramax has had high hopes for this project but due to the events of September 11, there have been a lot of discussions about how to handle the release. The target date of April is still shaky at this moment but the hope exists that eight months will be long enough for audiences to not feel uncomfortable watching a film largely based around the airline industry. If anything changes in their thinking, we'll be certain to update the listing. (David Mumpower/BOP)

March 9, 2002
This film has been shuffled around the schedule a second time, as numerous Miramax flicks shifted dates. Originally planned for April 19, 2002, the movie was scheduled for an August release before being assigned the current October debut. (Kim Hollis/BOP)

Variety reports that the release date for this film has been shuffled again, this time from October to January. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
