A psychological thriller in the vein of Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians, Identity follows ten total strangers who are stranded at a remote desert roadside motel. They find themselves cut off by a furious storm, and as they get to know one another, they find that they are being killed off one at a time. As they try to determine who the murderer is, they slowly turn on each other.

The film is front-lined by some top-notch talent, including BOP-favorite John Cusack and Alfred Molina, who received recent critical acclaim for his performance in Frida. Other familiar faces include the lovely Amanda Peet (The Whole Nine Yards), psychopathic character specialist Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), and former Tom Cruise paramour Rebecca DeMornay (Risky Business). Additional cast members John C. McGinley and John Hawkes may not be recognizable names, but they're certainly familiar faces. McGinley is currently chewing up scenery as the wonderful Dr. Cox in NBC's Scrubs, and Hawkes is probably best known for his portrayal of Bugsy in The Perfect Storm. The remaining members of the bunch are a who's who of up-and-comers. Clea DuVall has been in numerous recent films in supporting roles, including Ghosts of Mars and Girl, Interrupted. Jake Busey (yes, he is Gary's son) has had his biggest parts in Tomcats and Starship Troopers, and William Lee Scott featured in the big-budget flicks Gone in 60 Seconds and Pearl Harbor.

Early buzz on the film is fairly mixed, but it is likely that the studio will recut some scenes based on audience reaction. At first glance, at least, the film looks like one that will break strong out of the gate but fade quickly as typifies movies of the particular genre. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
