Comedian Donal Logue has come a way from his portrayal of an MTV-obsessed cabby. Nowadays, he splits time between his hit sitcom Grounded for Life and his recurring role on ER. So, one would expect him to take extended vacations during the downtime of summer re-run season. Alas, that is not the case. Logue filled the break in his schedule by co-writing, directing, starring in and (God help him) financing a pet project called Tennis, Anyone?

The movie is set in the dog-eat-dog world of the celebrity tennis circuit. In this realm of eccentric characters with egos run amuck, any perceived slight is met with incessant plotting for excessive, brutal revenge. Washed up talents have nothing better to do with their time. They are left to bask in the glory of those few fans who still remember them from better days when the spotlight still shined.

Logue cast several friends for the film. Stephen Dorff, Danny Trejo, Paul Rudd, Noah Wyle and Jason Isaacs join Logue and the movie's other co-writer, Kirk Fox, who also co-stars. Isaacs describes his role as "the most loathsome character I've ever put on film". Considering his work in Harry Potter, that makes the performance here that much more enticing.

Donal Logue struck gold with his work in the critically praised film, The Tao of Steve. He is now poised to offer another subversive, memorable indie production. (David Mumpower/BOP)
