Another movie entry hoping to make its mark on the November presidential election, the creative minds behind South Park team together once again for a comedic and subversive take on the current fight against terrorism. Trey Parker and Matt Stone will use marionette superheroes this time around to get their point across.

In fact, according to Variety, the marionettes are mostly inspired by the original Thunderbirds television series (yes, the one that has spawned a live-action film). The intent here, in addition to being politically charged, is to spoof the blow-'em-up films of Jerry Bruckheimer.

Team America itself is a group of superheroes whose intent is to thwart the forces of evil all around the world. And if they happen to eradicate certain celebrities who have gone well past their 15 minutes of fame, so much the better.

Marc Shaiman, who handled much of the music from South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, will be in charge of the music for Team America as well. Expect more tongue-in-cheek musical numbers in the vein of the Academy Award nominated Blame Canada, not to mention controversy to spare. Stone notes in Variety that the film is likely to rub some Hollywood heavies the wrong way, saying that Team America "might as well be our swan song."

If Team America manages to be anywhere near as funny as even the first 20 minutes of South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, we're there opening night. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
