After the drowning death of their young daughter, contractor James Tullian and his wife Adele move to Ty-Gwyneth, an estate outside a rural sheep-farming town in Wales. They're looking for a fresh start after the tragedy that has gripped them.
Their remote home is the source of many strange incidents. Soon after they move to the farmhouse, James unearths a pile of charred bones near the building. Meanwhile, Adele, an artist, begins to incorporate ever more gruesome images into her still-life paintings. At the same time, the couple's seven-year-old son, Sam begins to be the victim of strange visions and seizures. While the local townspeople believe that the Tullians may be experiencing an eerie manifestation created by the home's past residents, James believes that the odd interconnected events are the result of the family's own psychological triggers that have found a place to breed.
Based on Simon Maginn's novel Sheep, The Dark will feature The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring's Sean Bean as the father, while Maria Bello will play his wife. The film, which is scheduled to shoot in Summer of 2004, is being directed by John Fawcett (Ginger Snaps). (Kim Hollis/BOP)
