Josiah's Canon tells the story of a master thief who runs a team of highly successful bank robbers. The primary character steers the group toward an unusually ambitious project. He wants to pull off a Swiss job. He has received intelligence indicating the bank holds money that Jews had deposited prior to World War II. As a Holocaust survivor, he is driven to liberate the treasures contained within the vaults. Many of these valuables have gone unclaimed for 60 years due to the murders of their rightful owners.
The script for Josiah's Canon has gone through several drafts, and there have also been several high profile names attached at one time or another. Michael Douglas, Al Pacino and Dustin Hoffman all expressed interest in the part, then Sean Connery was attached for awhile before departing the project. The latest script written by Field of Dreams scribe Phil Alden Robinson was so well received that the project was placed on the front-burner after languishing for a bit. (David Mumpower/BOP)
