Because we live in a crazy world where nothing ever makes sense, Terminator Genisys is the number one film in the world for the second week in a row. Buoyed once again by Chinese audiences, the sequel/reboot (seboot?) earned $23.6 million for a comfortable first place finish. That pushed its international total to $320.1 million, and its global total past the $400 million mark. We're through the looking glass here, people, and it's simultaneously crazier and more boring than Lewis Carroll promised.

Second this week is The Hundred Regiments Offensive, a Chinese war epic about a significant and bloody battle fought against the Japanese. It earned $16.2 million, and has a total of $18.7 million so far.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation remains a pretty vital force in the global marketplace as the Tom Cruise vehicle added $15.3 million. It has now earned $309 million internationally and its global total could cross the half billion mark as soon as next weekend.

Minions continues to do pretty well in fourth. Having crossed the billion dollar mark mid-week, becoming the fourth film of 2015 to do so (and the third to come from Universal alone), the film added $14.9 million over the course of the weekend, giving it a new international total of $694.1 million.

The Dead End, a Chinese crime drama, rounds out the top five this week. It earned $14 million and has $18.5 million to date.

In sixth place is Hitman: Agent 47, which earned $13.1 million. This is a film which is certain to earn most of its money overseas at this point, since it's hard to imagine that its domestic total (currently $15.2 million) will match even the $25 million it has earned from foreign audiences so far.

Inside Out is seventh thanks to a weekend take of $10.9 million. That takes its overseas total to $371.1 million and its global one to $715.6 million. With a bit of luck, it should be able to overtake Up ($731.3 million) and Monsters University ($743.6 million) to become Pixar's third biggest global hit.

Ted 2 makes a somewhat unlikely return to the top ten after opening in Mexico, Brazil and Japan, its last major territories (unless it gets a belated release in China). The Seth MacFarlane-Mark Wahlberg sequel earned $9.3 million, bringing its international total to $109 million and its global one to $190.2 million. That's not bad considering the film's $68 million budget, but has to be considered disappointing compared to the $549.4 million ($218.8 million domestic/$330.6 million international) that the first film earned in the summer of 2012.

The South Korean thriller Veteran falls to ninth this week with $8 million, though it has earned a very solid $72 million to date, so no one should feel too bad about it.

Finally, we have Fantastic Four, which continues to fall faster than Ben Grimm from a plane. The superhero calamity earned $6.8 million, bringing its international total to a terrible (for expensive superhero movies) total of $93 million.
