New movies are released into theaters every weekend. How do you decide which movie to watch? Some movies sound awesome (Wimbledon), but then do not do too well commercially. Other movies star your celebrity crush (Sandra Bullock in Speed 2), but then do not get much love critically. Still other movies are recommended by friends (but friends can be idiots). And if you are like 26%* of people, you are not even aware of which movies are being released, yet alone which movies you should pay your hard earned money on.

I’ll save you the hassle of researching every movie by comparing the new releases for each weekend in this column. Then I’ll tell you which movie you should watch in the theaters.

For the weekend of June 13th, the new movies in wide release are 22 Jump Street and How to Train Your Dragon 2.

CONS: None
Fourth half-point for each movie!
Coolest Lead ActorChanning Tatum from Step Up, G.I. Joe, and The Vow. Toothless the dragon from How to Train Your Dragon. As much as I like Toothless, Channing Tatum is much hotter these days (I mean, in star power). Point for the human.
Best CastJonah Hill (Superbad) and Ice Cube (Ride Along)The voices of Cate Blanchett, Gerald Butler, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Jay Baruchel, and many more. Good casts. 1/2 point each.
Best Street Cred
For the Production
Co-directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord also directed and wrote Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Lego Movie. Writer and Director Dean DeBlois also wrote and directed Lilo & Stitch. And good directors- another 1/2 point each.

So out of a maximum of 7 points per movie, 22 Jump Street scores 4 points (and a gold star) and How to Train Your Dragon 2 scores 3 points.

You may interpret this column for your own movie preferences. For example, if you want to watch an amazingly epic sequel, feel free to watch How to Train Your Dragon. However, if you are still on the fence, please read the following conclusions from the scientific data gathered in this column.

Conclusion 1: On paper, 22 Jump Street is the best movie to watch this weekend.
Conclusion 2: Each week I give a gold star to the movie with the best tagline. I couldn’t find one for the dragons, so 22 Jump Street’s “They’re not 21 anymore” wins.
Conclusion 3: Actually, now that I think about it, Toothless is much cooler than Channing Tatum. If I could write this column again, I would give the tie-breaking point to How to Train Your Dragon 2 and have that be the winning movie of the weekend.
