Union Square
Who: Mira Sorvino, Tammy Blanchard, Patti LuPone
What: Sorvino and Blanchard play estranged sisters who come back into each others' lives when one is about to get married. The emotional chaos feeds this indie comedy.
When: March 26th - DVD and streaming
Why: I've liked Sorvino since the '90s when she was in comedies like Mighty Aphrodite and Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, so I could watch this.

You may find these movies available now but I'll include them in the Watchlist when they're available on Netflix: 23 Minutes to Sunrise, Pawn Shop, World Without End. Also note that one of my previous selections, Bachelorette, is now available in streaming format from Netflix.

What I'm watching this week:

Based on a goal of watching 200 movies per year, I try to watch - or limit myself to - four movies per week. The biggest movie this week is one everyone should see: Lincoln earned Daniel Day-Lewis a Best Actor Oscar, and it's well worth seeing his very human and even humorous portrayal of the President. I've seen that already so the one I'm looking forward to most is Brad Pitt playing a hitman in Killing Them Softly. I really liked the big wave surfing documentary Riding Giants, so I'll give Chasing Mavericks a look, particularly to see how they handle the ending. Finally, while I wasn't too eager to watch the Russian costume drama Anna Karenina, I am interested in the Denmark costume drama A Royal Affair, because that's a royal family I'm more familiar with but could stand to learn more about.

Coming next week:

The Baytown Outlaws, Foodfight!, Hemingway & Gellhorn, John Dies at the End, LUV, The Marine 3: Homefront, Red Dawn, The Sweeney
