Wednesday didn't provide any good news for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, while Nancy Drew stayed consistent. And on the milestone front, one of the summer's big three-quels crossed a major mark.

As we noted yesterday, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer's weekdays are tracking below those of the original Fantastic Four. This type of performance is especially troublesome when we consider that the sequel opened stronger than the first film. Wednesday saw this trend continue. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer's Wednesday total was down 12% from the previous day's total, giving it a grand total of $4,464,001. That compares unfavorably to the original Fantastic Four's first Wednesday take of $5,085,098, which amounted to only a 7% drop. With the way the weekdays have gone for Rise of the Silver Surfer, we continue to have plenty of evidence to lead us to a conclusion that a more-than-60% drop is in the cards for the film this weekend.

Moving on to Nancy Drew, the teen girl flick continues to hold steady, but it's really far too late to hold out any hope of success for the Warner Bros. project. It earned almost exactly the same amount Wednesday that it did Tuesday, which isn't horrible, but also leaves it lagging behind other kid movies like Surf's Up and Shrek the Third, which saw day-to-day increases.

Finally, Shrek the Third crossed the $300 million mark yesterday. It should be able to pass a few movies on the all-time domestic box office list before it's all said and done.
