1. The Hours
This film is a wonderfully played character study of that gracefully tells three stories and expertly ties each together. I'll admit the first 20 minutes of this film were slightly uncomfortable, but the ensemble cast does an amazing job delivering characters that I truly believed and felt for. Each person bravely faces his or her world and accepts the reality of individual existence. I just couldn't turn away and had to see the resolution of each person's struggle.
2. Adaptation
I hated this film for two hours after I saw it. Then it began to grow on me and the more thought and processed what I had seen the more I appreciated what filmmaker and writer accomplished. Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman are true vanguards in a time when Hollywood needs them.
