Jamie Bell lands lead role

Jamie Bell and Daniel Craig, who previously co-starred in Defiance (currently in theaters), joined the cast of The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. Bell plays the title character, a globe-trotting young reporter, while Craig will be the villain, Red Rackham. The feature is expected to be in theaters in 2011 and will be the first of two, possibly three, planned installments.

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost join two-part project

Brits Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will play detectives Thompson and Thomson in Tintin, Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg's two-part project. Based on George Remi's comic books, the project has yet to tap its title character, Tintin.

Peter Jackson trilogy needs new business partner

Tintin needs some money. Filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are looking for a partner to co-finance and co-distribute their in-the-works trilogy with Paramount. They're currently eying Sony Pictures to help with financing and international distribution. A 2010 release is planned.

Serkis, Jackson to team up again?

It is rumored that Andy Serkis and director Peter Jackson, both alumni of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, will reteam in Dreamworks's Tintin, a movie trilogy collaboration between Jackson and Steven Spielberg. If Signed, Serkis, who portrayed CG character gollum, may play Capt. Haddock in the theatrical adaptation of a European comic strip.

Jackson and Spielberg love Tintin

Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg will team to bring an adaptation of The Adventures of Tintin to the big screen. Jackson and Spielberg will each direct installments of the planned franchise, which will be based on a series of Belgian comic books by Herge. The plan would be to use motion-capture technology. Spielberg is a lifelong Tintin fan. For those unfamiliar with the character, Tintin is a young reporter and world traveler who experiences a number of adventures with his faithful dog Snowy. Other characters in the books include Captain Haddock, Professor Cuthbert Calculus and the detectives Thomson and Thompson.
