Demme to Direct Carter Documentary
Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) will direct a documentary feature about former President Jimmy Carter titled He Comes in Peace. It will be produced by Participant Productions, which also produced Al Gore's hit An Inconvenient Truth. Demme and his filmmaking team will follow Carter around the country as he embarks on a book tour for his new book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, and gives talks on how to achieve peace in the Middle East. Demme, who also recently directed another documentary in Neil Young: Heart of Gold, hopes to use an "experiential" approach in which he avoids interviews with "talking heads" and spontaneity and truth are emphasized.
