Roach investigates Deep Throat
Jay Roach has been attached to direct an as-yet untitled movie about W. Mark Felt, aka Deep Throat, for Universal Pictures and Playtone. Peter Landesman will write the screenplay about the career FBI man, who was the secret source who gave assistance to Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in their investigation of the Watergate cover-up.

Hanks makes a deal with Deep Throat
Tom Hanks' Playtone and Universal Pictures have closed a deal that will give them the rights to the story of Deep Throat. The studio and production company signed a deal with W. Mark Felt, the retired FBI worker who was recently revealed as the inside source that gave information to Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein as they broke the story of the Watergate scandal. In addition to their deal with Felt, the studio also bought the rights to the Vanity Fair article that revealed Felt's truth, written by John O'Connor. A book deal will be forthcoming as well.
As for Bob Woodward, he's writing his own book about his relationship with Felt, but is not involved in this particular movie deal.
