Richard Jenkins serves up some Rum
Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins has signed on for Rum Diary. In the movie, the actor will play boss to Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp). Also, Aaron Eckhart is in talks to be part of a love triangle for the affection of Amber Heard's character.

Amber Heard to star opposite Johnny Depp
Amber Heard is in talks to play the female lead in Rum Diary opposite Johnny Depp. The project is an adaptation of the Hunter S. Thompson novel, which Bruce Robinson is writing and directing.

Depp to reprise Gonzo role
Johnny Depp will once again play journalist/author Hunter S. Thompson in an adaptation of the gonzo writer's The Rum Diary. Bruce Robinson will both adapt the screenplay and direct the film. The story chronicles Thompson's journalistic and alcohol-soaked adventures in Puerto Rico. Depp had tried to join forces with Nick Nolte and Benicio Del Toro at one point in the pasts for an adaptation; however, Thompson was extremely unhappy with the direction the script was taking.
