New Line Cinema gets Olson for Monster

Josh Olson has been signed to adapt the best-selling Japanese manga series Monster for New Line Cinema. He also did the adaptation of the graphic novel A History of Violence for the studio. Monster is a psychological thriller that centers on a young doctor who saves a little boy's life. A few years later, the doctor learns that the boy he saved has turned into a masterful killer. The protagonist must track down the killer and ultimately attempt to solve an even larger conspiracy.

New Line gets rights to a Monster

New Line has picked up rights to the Japanese manga Monster, a comic series from Naoki Urasawa. The psychological thriller tells the story of a doctor who saves the life of a young boy, only to find out several years later that the child became a killer. The doctor then takes it upon himself to track down the murderer, finding that he is now part of an even bigger conspiracy. The book has been adapted into an animated television series in Japan, and has sold more than 25 million copies.
