Writers get Airborn

The Sommers Co., a Universal Pictures based production company headed up by Stephen Sommers, have hired Josh Oppenheimer and Thomas Donnelly to adapt the Kenneth Oppel children's book Airborn as a feature film. The movie centers on Matt Cruse, a cabin boy who works on the Aurora, an airship that sails above the ocean and ferries passengers from city to city. One night, he meets a dying balloonist who talks about beautiful creatures that live in the skies. When Matt encounters the balloonist's granddaughter, he finds that these seeming incoherent ravings may be true.

Steve Sommers is Airborn

Steve Sommers added another item to his growing slate as he and his producing partner Bob Ducsey have joined forces with Ruddy Morgan (Albert Ruddy and Andre Morgan) to produce Airborn for Universal pictures. The fantasy adventure is based on a children's book by Kenneth Oppel and tells the story of a 15-year-old boy who works on a luxury airship. The airship is a combination of dirigible and passenger cruise ship. Pirates attack the ship and the boy and a female friend set forth on a wild adventure that features odd flying creatures, secret lairs, evil villains and uncharted volcanic islands.
