ILM set for Iron Man visual effects
Industrial Light & Magic will be the primary visual effects studio for Iron Man. Jon Favreau is directing the film, and John Nelson, who won an Academy Award for Gladiator, will be the visual effects supervisor. Hal Hickel, who won an Oscar for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, will team up with Visual Effects Supervisor Ben Snow to topline the ILM team.

Bibb joins Iron Man
Leslie Bibb (Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby) has joined the cast of director Jon Favreau's Iron Man. She'll star alongside Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges. Bibb will play a reporter in the film.

Bridges Joins Iron Man Movie
Jeff Bridges has opted to join the cast of Marvel Entertainment's Iron Man. Bridges will play a friend and close business associate of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) at Stark Industries. Stark's alterego is superhero Iron Man. Other headlinerss in the cast include Gwyneth Paltrow and Terrence Howard.

Paltrow Joins Iron Man Team
Gwyneth Paltrow will join Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard in the cast of Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures' Iron Man. The adaptation of the Marvel Comic will star Downey Jr. as the titular hero. Jon Favreau is directing.

Howard Marvels Over Iron Man Role
Terrence Howard will co-star with Robert Downey Jr. in Marvel Studios' Iron Man. The actor will play the role of Jim "Rhodey" Rhodes, a friend of Tony Stark, Iron Man's everyday alter ego. Rhodes is a military officer and aviator who leads the team that develops that robotic suit that Stark uses.

Downey Scores Iron Man Lead
Robert Downey Jr. will take the title role in Marvel Comics adaptation Iron Man. He will play Iron Man and his everyday alter ego Tony Stark, a wealthy industrialist who invents a high-tech body armor suit which gives him superpowers. Though it will not be featured in the movie, in the comics Stark was an alcoholic, a fact that will certainly draw comparison's to Downey's own life and his struggles. It will be his first big-budget action film, and will also be Marvel's first self-financed film via Marvel Studios. Jon Favreau is directing and principal photography is scheduled to begin in February.

Marvel gets Iron Man back
Marvel has taken back film rights for their property Iron Man from New Line Cinema, which had tried unsuccessfully for two years to develop the film. Now, Marvel may try to produce the film themselves, which would indicate that the distributor on the project would be Paramount, with whom they have a deal. The story centers on an inventor who becomes a superhero when he puts on a high-tech suit. Marvel says that Nick Cassavetes, who had been rumored as a directorial candidate when the project was at New Line, is still a possibility. A new script will be commissioned.

Negotiations still on for Iron Man
Although the trades reported in November that Nick Cassavetes had a deal in place with New Line Cinemas and Marvel Studios to direct Iron Man, the negotiations were apparently never quite complete. Cassavetes is still in the running for the job; however, there is no deal currently in place and talks have not taken place for several months. He is working on a rewrite of the script for the studio. Marvel had to note during its earnings report that the film's start date had to be pushed back due to the fact that they've had difficulty signing the director. The film is now set to be released in 2007 rather than 2006.

Cassavetes gets his Iron
New Line Cinema and Marvel Studios have signed Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook) to direct Iron Man. Based on the long-time comic book series, the story centers around inventor/executive Tony Stark, a man who straps on billions of dollars in armor and weapons to fight crime, terrorism and espionage.
