Big Fish scribe partners with Sam Mendes
Big Fish writer John August was tapped by Columbia to pen the adaptation of the supernatural graphic novel, Preacher. Sam Mendes is already on board to direct.

Columbia buys rights to comic; Sam Mendes to direct
Columbia picked up the rights to popular 1990s comic Preacher. Sam Mendes has been tapped to direct the adaptation. Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Preacher, which ran from 1995-2000, told the story of a Texas preacher possessed by a supernatural entity born through the coupling of an angel and demon. A previous adaptation, with James Marsden in the lead role, was purported to have a budget in the $25 million range. A writer is still being sought.
